Dubai AI Campus Plans New AI Labs and Public Experience Centre

Dubai AI Campus plans for AI labs and a public experience centre.

Dubai AI Campus plans to bring AI development labs and a public experience centre into a new 100,000-square-foot facility, giving businesses space to test solutions and visitors a closer look at how the technology is being applied.

The plans were outlined on October 26 during the Dubai AI Festival, when Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, reviewed the building’s architectural vision.

Following the announcement of new company and employment targets, the proposed facility offers a clearer picture of the infrastructure intended to support the campus’s next stage of growth.

AI Labs to Test Solutions Before Wider Use

The building is planned within the DIFC Zabeel District expansion. Its modular, lab-ready floors will house AI Labs where government entities and private-sector organisations can develop, pilot and validate solutions before deploying them more widely.

That development-to-testing process is a central part of the proposal. Rather than serving only as office space, the facility is intended to bring together computing infrastructure, expertise and resources to support AI adoption and commercialisation.

Planned features include GPU-ready systems, secure AI development zones, digital twin environments and AI-powered building systems.

What Businesses and Founders Should Know

For companies developing AI products, the relevant part of the announcement is the proposed access to an environment designed for development, testing and collaboration.

However, the announcement does not set out application procedures, eligibility requirements, charges or booking arrangements for the labs. It also does not guarantee funding or commercial contracts to participating companies.

Those practical details will need to be checked when the relevant access arrangements are announced.

Experience Centre Planned for Residents and Students

The proposed AI Experience Centre will showcase applications across different sectors, including innovations from the campus’s AI Labs, resident companies and citywide pilot projects.

It is intended to welcome residents, students, visitors, delegations and investors, extending the building’s role beyond the companies working there.

Dedicated conference facilities are also planned for summits, policy discussions and industry events throughout the year.

The October announcement did not provide a public opening date, ticketing information or visitor registration details. The centre should therefore be viewed as a planned attraction, not one currently open to visitors.

How the Building Fits the Campus Expansion

Dubai AI Campus, part of Dubai International Financial Centre, launched in May 2024. According to the official update, it has attracted more than 500 AI companies that have collectively secured over AED1 billion from private equity and venture capital funds.

That investment figure refers to funding raised by campus companies; it is not the announced construction cost of the new building.

The campus has also contributed to creating more than 2,000 specialised technology jobs. Its next targets are more than 1,000 companies and over 5,000 highly skilled jobs by 2030.

For readers following the festival announcements, the distinction is straightforward: the targets describe the intended scale of growth, while the proposed labs and experience centre show how Dubai plans to support development, testing and public engagement.
