Dubai Gold District Plans 24-Carat Gold Walkway Before the End of 2026

Dubai Gold District is planning a walkway featuring 24-carat gold, giving residents and visitors a new reason to explore one of the city’s best-known jewellery destinations.

The attraction is expected to open before the end of 2026. Rashid Al Harmoudi, a senior director in the district’s commercial division, said the planned opening was approximately two months away, according to reports published on October 25 and 26.

Officials have described the project as the first and longest walkway of its kind. However, its dimensions and detailed construction specifications have not yet been made public in the reports reviewed.

Dubai Gold District Adds a New Attraction to Its Jewellery Hub

The proposed walkway is intended to strengthen the district’s appeal as both a trading centre and a visitor destination.

Rather than serving only shoppers looking for jewellery, it would give people another reason to spend time in the area: experiencing a pedestrian attraction centred on the material that helped give Dubai its “City of Gold” identity.

The plan comes as the district expands its commercial offering, with additional jewellery businesses, trading offices and retail space.

What Will the 24-Carat Gold Walkway Be Made Of?

Published reports describe a walkway made with, paved with or featuring 24-carat gold. However, the available information does not explain exactly how the precious metal will be incorporated.

Details such as the amount of gold, the thickness of any gold surface and the materials used underneath have not been disclosed.

It would therefore be premature to describe the project as a solid-gold pavement. What has been announced is a planned walkway featuring 24-carat gold; the engineering and finishing details remain to be revealed.

When Will the Dubai Gold District Walkway Open?

The target is to open the attraction before the end of 2026.

Al Harmoudi’s comments placed the expected opening roughly two months after the late-October announcement. A specific opening day has not been published in the reports reviewed.

The walkway is not yet open, and prospective visitors should wait for a confirmed launch announcement before planning a trip specifically to see it.

Where Will Visitors Find the Gold Walkway?

The announced location is Dubai Gold District.

The reports do not identify the walkway’s precise starting point, entrance or street address. Its length, accessibility arrangements, visiting hours and any admission charges also remain unannounced.

Those details will be important when the project moves from an announcement to a visitor attraction. For now, the district-level location is the clearest confirmed guidance available.

Gold Trading Offices and Jewellery Outlets Expand

The walkway announcement forms part of a wider picture of growth within Dubai Gold District.

According to figures attributed to district officials, the number of wholesale gold trading offices has increased by 20% since January. Outlets dealing in gold, jewellery, gemstones and luxury watches have increased by 15%.

Officials also expect the number of companies entering the district to grow by a further 10% to 20% over the following 12 months.

These figures concern the district’s businesses, not the growth of Dubai’s entire gold market. The additional 10% to 20% is a forecast rather than a result already achieved.

New offices and shops are also being developed, while officials have discussed an exhibition initiative intended to strengthen the district’s role in the regional jewellery trade.

How the Joyalukkas Guinness Records Connect to the Announcement

The walkway update emerged around the unveiling of Joyalukkas’ giant gold earrings in Dubai Gold District.

The handcrafted 22-carat pair, named Mayura Sahasra, weighs 16.514 kilograms and has been recognised with two Guinness World Records titles: the heaviest pair of gold earrings and the largest pair of earrings.

The earrings and walkway are separate attractions. The Guinness recognition belongs to the earrings; the reports reviewed do not establish that the proposed walkway has received a Guinness World Records title.

A New Way to Experience Dubai’s City of Gold

If delivered as planned, the walkway would add a distinctive visitor experience to a district already associated with jewellery shopping and gold trading.

For now, the key development is the announcement itself: Dubai Gold District is targeting a year-end opening for a walkway featuring 24-carat gold, while the exact launch date, construction details and visitor arrangements remain to be confirmed.
