Google Internet Heroes Dubai Pop-Up Opens for Families on October 24–25

Google Internet Heroes Dubai is welcoming families to a two-day online safety experience at Alserkal Avenue on October 24 and 25, bringing hands-on digital learning and parental supervision tools into a public pop-up.

The event introduces families to Abtal Al Internet, Google’s digital literacy programme, alongside safety features available across its products. The Dubai initiative is being held in partnership with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) and the National Media Office.

For parents, the experience offers an opportunity to explore how children can recognise online risks and how adults can support safer internet use. The pop-up is open to the public, with October 25 the remaining scheduled day after Saturday’s opening.

What Families Can Explore at the Dubai Online Safety Event

The interactive experience combines activities based on Abtal Al Internet with demonstrations of parental control and supervision features.

The programme, whose name translates as “Internet Heroes,” covers practical digital skills such as identifying misinformation, spotting scams, protecting private information and preventing cyberbullying.

Rather than treating online safety only as a list of restrictions, the initiative focuses on helping children make informed decisions about the content and interactions they encounter.

Parents can also learn about safety and supervision features associated with children’s and teenagers’ accounts on YouTube and the YouTube Kids app.

For families, these demonstrations provide a starting point for conversations about what children watch, which information they share and how they respond when something online makes them uncomfortable.

Alserkal Avenue Pop-Up: Dates, Location and Access

The Google Internet Heroes experience is taking place at Alserkal Avenue in Dubai on October 24–25, 2026.

The published event announcement describes the pop-up as open to the public. However, it does not specify opening hours, an admission price or whether visitors must book a time slot.

Families planning to attend on October 25 should check the latest organiser and venue announcements before travelling. They should also confirm the exact location within Alserkal Avenue and any entry arrangements.

The local event is intended for families, while the wider Abtal Al Internet programme is designed for children aged seven to thirteen.

Online Safety Skills Extend Beyond the Event

The programme’s core topics address situations children may encounter while learning, playing or communicating online.

Recognising suspicious messages, understanding the importance of private information and responding to cyberbullying are among the skills covered by the curriculum.

For parents, the pop-up connects those lessons with the supervision settings available on familiar digital services. The aim is to make safety tools easier to understand alongside the behaviours they are intended to support.

Google.org Announces $2.4 Million for Regional Digital Literacy

The Dubai event accompanies a wider funding announcement intended to expand digital safety education across the Middle East and North Africa.

Google.org, Google’s philanthropic arm, has committed US$2.4 million to INJAZ Al-Arab to bring the Abtal Al Internet curriculum into classrooms across nine countries over the next four years.

Google says the initiative aims to reach more than 2.3 million young people. The countries named in its announcement include the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.

The Arabic-language programme first launched in 2018. The new funding will support classroom delivery of its open-source curriculum, covering online citizenship, privacy, misinformation, scams and cyberbullying.

The regional education programme and the Dubai pop-up are separate parts of the same announcement: the grant supports longer-term classroom learning, while the Alserkal Avenue event gives families a short, hands-on introduction.

For Dubai residents and visiting families, the immediate opportunity is the public pop-up, scheduled to continue through October 25. Confirming visiting hours and access arrangements before setting out remains the key practical step.
