Dubai, UAE: Dubai is set to launch the world’s first commercial air taxi service before the end of 2026. The project will connect Dubai International Airport and Palm Jumeirah in just 10–12 minutes, marking a major milestone in the future of urban transportation.
Dubai Vertiport Approved for Electric Air Taxi Operations
The newly certified Dubai Vertiport (VDX), located near Dubai International Airport, will serve as the main hub for the city’s upcoming Dubai Air Taxi network. The facility includes dedicated take-off and landing pads, fast-charging systems, and passenger terminals built for commercial electric air taxis.

Joby Aviation to Launch Dubai Electric Air Taxi Service
California-based Joby Aviation has been selected to operate the Dubai Electric Air Taxi service. The all-electric aircraft can carry one pilot and four passengers, reach speeds of up to 320 km/h, and travel approximately 161 km on a single charge while producing zero operating emissions.
Dubai Air Taxi to Cut Travel Time
According to project officials, the Dubai Air Taxi will reduce travel time between Dubai International Airport and Palm Jumeirah to just 10–12 minutes, compared with around 45 minutes by road. The first phase will also connect Dubai Marina and Downtown Dubai.

Dubai Air Taxi Launch Expected Before End of 2026
The Dubai Electric Air Taxi project supports the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and We the UAE 2031 vision. Commercial operations are expected to begin before the end of 2026, subject to Joby Aviation receiving final operational certification.
