Bitcoin Price 2026 Roller Coaster: From $98K to $58K, Then Back to $87K

Bitcoin Price 2026 roller coaster from $98K to $58K and back to $87K

Bitcoin Price 2026 has turned into a major roller coaster. Bitcoin started the year near $87,500, climbed to almost $98,000 in January, then dropped to around $58,000 in July before making a strong recovery back toward $87,000 in September.

That means Bitcoin has already gone through a roughly $40,000 price swing this year — from a January high to a July low and then back into the high-$80,000 range.

Bitcoin Price Started 2026 Near $88K and Climbed to $98K

Bitcoin entered 2026 around $87,500.

The first major move was higher. In January, Bitcoin reached a yearly high of about $97,860, putting it close to the $100,000 level once again.

But that rally did not continue.

The market soon turned lower, and Bitcoin entered a much deeper correction.

Bitcoin Price Then Fell From $98K to Around $58K

The biggest change in the Bitcoin Price 2026 story came during the first half of the year.

Bitcoin moved from the January high near $98,000 toward the $60,000 area in February. The weakness continued through the spring, with Bitcoin eventually falling to about $57,748 on July 1.

That was a fall of roughly 41% from the January high.

The drop was linked to several pressures, including uncertainty around US interest rates, geopolitical tensions and weaker demand for US spot Bitcoin ETFs during parts of the first half of the year.

For Bitcoin, the picture had changed completely.

The market had gone from asking whether BTC could break $100,000 to watching whether it could hold the $60,000 area.

Bitcoin Recovery Begins From the $58K Low

Then the direction changed again.

After touching around $57,748 in July, Bitcoin began recovering. It closed July around $62,814 and August around $78,549.

The move became stronger in September.

Bitcoin climbed above $80,000 and eventually reached $87,363.76 on September 21, its highest level since January.

That means Bitcoin gained roughly 51% from the July low to the September high.

Bitcoin Market Comes Back to the January Zone

This is where the Bitcoin Market story becomes interesting.

Bitcoin did not simply recover a few thousand dollars. It travelled from almost $98K → $58K → $87K within the same year.

The September recovery also came as the wider crypto market recovered. Total digital-asset market capitalisation returned to around $3 trillion, a level last seen in January.

Recent market reports have pointed to renewed institutional demand, ETF activity and improving risk appetite as some of the factors behind the recovery.

Bitcoin Recovery Has Not Yet Reached $98K

There is one important part of the story that should not be missed.

Bitcoin has made a strong Bitcoin Recovery, but it has not yet returned to its January high.

The September high of about $87,364 remains roughly $10,500 below the January high near $97,861.

So the comeback is significant, but the market has not yet returned to the year’s peak.

What the Bitcoin Price 2026 Journey Shows

The numbers tell the story clearly:

January: Nearly $98,000
↓
July: Around $57,750
↓
September: Around $87,000

Bitcoin lost about 41% from its January high and then recovered about 51% from its July low.

That is why the 2026 Bitcoin story is more than another daily price update.

It is a story of a sharp rise, a deep correction and a powerful comeback — all within the same year.

What Comes Next for Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is now back near the levels seen at the beginning of the year, but it still has to clear its January high to fully erase the year’s major correction.

For now, the key question is simple: Can Bitcoin continue its recovery and move back toward $98,000, or will the market face another pullback?

That will make the next phase of the Bitcoin Price 2026 story worth watching.
